Safety guidelines
Real working models mean real materials. These standard protocols keep home experiments fun and accident-free. Every project also lists its own specific warnings.
Adult supervision
Anyone under 13 should build with an adult present, especially for electricity, heat, sharp tools, or chemicals.
Protect your eyes
Wear safety glasses for any project with springs, projectiles, chemical reactions, or wires under tension.
Respect electricity
Stick to battery-powered builds; never use mains/wall power. Disconnect batteries between tests โ short circuits get hot.
Handle chemicals carefully
Use household-safe substances only. Work in a ventilated space, never mix random cleaners, and never taste or inhale anything.
Mind heat & fire
Keep flames and hot surfaces away from paper, hair and clothing. Have water nearby and let things cool before handling.
Sharp tools
Cut away from your body, use a cutting mat, and ask an adult for help with knives, drills, or glue guns.
Clean up & store
Label and store materials away from small children and pets. Dispose of batteries and chemicals properly.
Know your limits
If a project feels beyond your comfort or equipment, choose an easier one. No model is worth an injury.
